We aim to provide a professional network and inclusive community that supports women and gender minorities working in the space sector in New Zealand, provides mentorship for those wanting to enter the sector and encourages the next generation to pursue a career in space, particularly in STEM fields.

We are a community and network of people focused on supporting women and gender minorities in the NZ space sector Our members work in or have an interest in all aspects of the space sector, including science, engineering, business and corporate, medical, policy, and legal fields.

We bring together women and gender minorities from across the sector to collaborate, inspire and support each other both in-person and virtually. Our activities focus on supporting those in the space sector, providing guidance to those looking to enter the sector and inspiring the next generation to reach for the stars.

Our Story
Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand was founded in October 2021 during World Space Week by a group of passionate wāhine involved in the space sector. The society received immediate support, reaching 100 members within the first week. WISANZ held its first event, Celebrating New Zealand Women in Space, in collaboration with Auckland Unlimited and the New Zealand Space Agency in December 2021.
WISANZ was formally registered as an Incorporated Society on 16th May 2022. Our Constitution is available to read through the link below.
