International Women’s Day 2022

Today, Tuesday 8th March 2022, is International Women’s Day - #IWD 2022’s campaign theme is #BreaktheBias.

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

WISANZ was created to achieve these goals for women and gender minorities working in the New Zealand space sector, and those who want to.

WISANZ supports, celebrates and shines light on our members who are blazing trails in the New Zealand space sector.  We collaborate and engage with our male colleagues and supporters every day, establishing that women and gender minorities are contributing and excelling across a range of space careers in New Zealand – including in those seen as traditional male fields.  Through our inclusive community, our engagement every day with the broader New Zealand space sector and our outreach and mentoring, WISANZ members work every day to #BreaktheBias so that the next generation of women and gender minorities have no barriers to chasing the #spacecareers of their dreams.

Together we can forge women's equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

We know many of you are already breaking the bias everyday and we want to hear all about it! Post on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #BreakTheBias and tell us how you are breaking the bias in your own life. Make sure you tag @womeninspacenz so we can retweet/share your posts!

WISANZ meet ups coming to a city near you!

We know you have all been eager to get more involved with this community and meet other WISANZ members. We were hoping to organise an in-person event sooner but like many things, the pandemic shook up those plans!

So we’ve decided to hold an extravaganza of events to make up for it! We will be hosting not one, not two, but THREE separate events across our main centres - Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch on Thursday 24th March! These will be informal meet ups for you to have the opportunity to network with other WISANZ members and supporters. Details of venues and start times will be shared shortly but you can expect it to be held after work at a location near the city centre.

If you are interested in coming along, please fill out the RSVP form so we can plan for the appropriate amount of people. Feel free to bring a friend or colleague along with you as well!
